Matter that Matters

Adaptive soft matter from fundamentals to novel materials

It is our pleasure to invite you to the first Matter that Matters International Conference, to be held at Lund University, Sweden, 26–28 May 2027. The conference will provide a forum for exchanging ideas between researchers in soft and hard matter materials science, the physical sciences, and the life sciences. Our ambition is that the conference seeds new interdisciplinary collaborations that lead to groundbreaking developments in adaptive and intelligent material systems. The conference will place particular emphasis on how new materials and technologies can enable the transition to a sustainable society, including efficient energy storage, resource-efficient production, novel foods for health and well-being, and improved medical diagnostics and treatment.

We welcome academic scientists, specialists from industry, and researchers from large-scale research facilities. The conference will strengthen the connection between academia, research infrastructure, and industry, where advanced analytical methods and AI-based tools play an increasingly important role in critical scientific discoveries.

Speakers include: Prof. Raffaele Mezzenga (ETH Zürich), Prof. Jennifer A. Lewis (Harvard University), Prof. Bradley F. Chmelka (UC Santa Barbara) and Prof. Kathleen Stebe (University of Pennsylvania).”
